Teachers lauded for bags created from recycled materials

-

MIRI: Bags made from used jeans and banners by a group of teachers from SK Senadin have received positive feedback from the school’s Parent-Teacher Association ( PTA).

PTA chairman Henry Jugah said the bags truly supported the theme of recycling to conserve the environment.

“I’m very proud with what has been done by the teachers, and thanks to the parents too for helping the teachers to make the bag project a success.

“This creative idea by producing new products from recycled items actually can be a way to generate extra income.”

He said he was told that parents, teachers and students started collecting raw materials to make the bags from used jeans since Feb 10 this year.

Besides that, he added, they also recycled banners which have been used for school activities as bag material.

He highlighted that some of the bags made by the teachers were donated to needy students in the school.

Recently, the teachers with their bag creations represented the school in the Invention and Innovation Recycling Competition organised by Pustaka Miri.

The teachers were headed by team leader Herman Kadar.

Other members of the team are Siti Nur Azzin Hamdan, Umi Samsian Abu Bakar, Suzana Adi and Sepia Bedol.
