SAS to hold art show at Saradise Gallery featuring local artists
KUCHING: Sarawak Artists Society ( SAS) will hold an art show at Saradise Gallery here from April 7 to May 18 showcasing works by local artists.
The association which was formed in 1985, hopes the event will help promote local artistic talents, it said in a statement yesterday.
SAS also aims to contribute towards the growing art and creative movement in the state and raise the awareness of art appreciation as well as connect emerging talents with senior established artists in Sarawak.
Meanwhile, members of the association have elected David Chew as president for the 20172018 period during their annual general meeting and dinner on Friday.
The society’s vice president 1 is Gerald Goh with Petrus Alfred elected vice president 2. The secretary is Angelina Bong while assistant secretary 1 and 2 are Sheila Kho Ting Ling and Narong Daun respectively.
Chai Fook Vui was appointed treasurer, with Sebastion Jong as the assistant treasurer.
The association also elected Sim Chiap Hin, Gabrielle Lim, Sylvester Jussem, Lilly Metom and Jane Ling as committee members.
SAS plans to hold art related activities for its members as well as the general public besides exhibitions and art shows. The new committee will hold its first meeting soon to discuss and plan for the next two years.
