MIRI: Exposing students to entrepreneurial activity while they are still studying provides an opportunity for students to learn and generate their own income, as well as to prepare them for when they go out to work in their respective field of study in the future.

This approach has been adopted by the International College of Advanced Technology Sarawak (i- CATS) here in its programmes so that students are exposed to multiple areas as part of their development.

Recently, i- CATS students conducted a food sale on campus here. According to community service course lecturer Noraini Sahaini, theactivitywasoneamong others carried out by students to meet course requirements.

“I guide them to raise their own funds for their coming second project which involves (developing a) relationship with the community. From what I see, these students are very interested in trading activities and they receive good response from their college mates,” she said.

The sale involved Semester 5 students from the BTEC Higher National Diploma in Electrical Eng ine er ing / Ele c t ronic s course and Semester 4 students from the Diploma in Business Administration programme.

Throughout the two- day sale, students from both courses were able to earn between RM547 to RM891.
