Myanmarese stabbed to death, boy��riend, two others detained

KUALA LUMPUR: A Myanmar woman was found stabbed to death at a rented room of a twostorey shophouse in Setapak here on Sunday.

The unidentified 26-year- old victim, who held a United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees (UNHCR) card, sustained multiple stab wounds in the chest and a slash wound on the right hand.

Her live-in boyfriend, also a Myanmarese, told the police that he found the woman dead in the ground floor room of the shophouse in Jalan Genting Klang about 8pm.

Wangsa Maju police chief, Supt Mohamad Roy Suhaimi Sarif said the 27-year- old boyfriend, a restaurant waiter, was among three men detained to facilitate investigations into the murder.

The others are a 28-year- old Indonesian and a 25-year- old Vietnamese.

Mohamad Roy said initial investigations revealed there was a struggle between the woman and her assailant before she was brutally attacked and killed.

He said a blood-stained knife, believed to be the murder weapon was found under a bed in the room.

“We also found blood splattered on the wall, indicating signs of a struggle,” he told a press conference here yesterday.

Mohamad Roy said preliminary investigations revealed the victim, an unemployed UNHCR card holder had been living together with her boyfriend for two months at the shophouse.

He said the murdered woman’s boyfriend worked as waiter in a restaurant located in the same premises while the Vietnamese lived next door to the victim and the Indonesian rented a room upstairs.

The body was sent to the Kuala Lumpur Hospital. — Bernama
