MIRI: Bintang Megamall is collaborating with Top Dog Factory Martial Arts Training Centre and Meritz Hotel Miri to hold an ‘Experience Your First Martial Arts’ demonstration and performance on April 8 and 9 at Bintang Megamall Miri.

Speaking at a press conference recently, event manager Allen Wong said the event offers a great opportunity for members of the public, especially women, to learn self- defence to protect themselves.

Two trainers — Mekhrubon Maradonov of Tajikistan and Ncedo Gomba from South Africa — will be demonstrating martial arts to the public during the event.

Mekhrubon or better known as ‘Bon’ is a Borneo mixed martial arts champion while Ncedo is a world Muay Thai champion who won a championship in Hong Kong recently.

“In martial arts, we should learn a little bit of everything, which is enough to protect ourselves. Learning martial arts is not about fighting, it is about self- discipline and self- defence during an emergency,” Bon said.

Top Dog Factory’s director Mia Mah said that the event is a golden opportunity for Mirians to come and witness a live martial arts demonstration for themselves.

“People may have a wrong perception about martial arts, and we are here to correct the perception, as well as to brief the public about the different martial arts that we will be demonstrating,” Mah said.

The demonstration will be from 11am to 8pm on April 8 and 11am to 5pm on April 9 on the fi rst floor of Bintang Megamall’s new wing. The two- day event is open and free to the public. Also present at the press conference was Meritz Hotel general manager John Teo.
