Dennis presents RM286,000 in MRP grants to 14 recipients
MIRI: A total of RM286,000 in minor rural project ( MRP) grants were given out to 14 recipients representing various associations, schools, village security and development committees (JKKK) and religious bodies from around Telang Usan yesterday.
Telang Usan assemblyman Dennis Ngau who presented the grants urged the recipients to use the money for their intended projects, and send a report on how the money was spent.
“I hope to get reports from all who have received the grants because my office has to file a report to the State Implementation and Monitoring Unit ( SIMU) as they can do spot checking at any YB’s service centres to find out whether the money is being distributed properly or utilised as it should be,” he said at his service centre here yesterday.
“I know what we give are not enough as we need to follow the process and criteria and those who are really in need will be chosen to receive the MRP and every sen we receive from the state government used to benefit the people, but I hope you will use the money wisely and try to get best value,” he added.
Dennis also called on the people to continue supporting the Barisan Nasional ( BN) government to ensure uninterrupted development and progress.
“We should be thankful that the government has approved some of the applications for aid and although some are not yet approved, I hope the support for the government remains,” he added.
According to Dennis, BN practises politics of development to unite the people and to expedite development to narrow the divide between urban and rural areas.
The recipients are St Peter’s Chapel Long Pilah Baram, Long Pilah Parent Teacher Association ( PTA), Jawatankuasa Sekolah Theologi Pertama, SIB Bahasa Kayan Taman Tunku branch, Persatuan Wanita Kayan Sarawak, BEM On The Rock, BEM ( SIB) Kairos Church, SMK Long Lama PTA, JKKK Long Julan (Asal) Baram, SIB Bahasa Kayan, Persatuan Bisaya Sarawak Miri branch, Persatuan Pengetua Sekolah Menengah Sarawak daerah Baram, Holy Trinity Chapel and JKKK Long Atip Apoh.
