Andy Jong heads FSJA 2017-2018 term
MIRI: President of the Northern Sarawak Journalists Association (NSJA) Andy Jong Wan Joon is the new president of the Federation of Sarawak Journalists Associations (FSJA) for the 2017 – 2018 term.
Jong was elected at the recent FSJA annual general meeting (AGM) in Miri. He took over from Jacqueline Radoi David from the Kuching Division Journalists Association, KDJA.
The handover of duties was witnessed by Piasau assemblyman Datuk Sebastian Ting Chiew Yew.
The AGM also elected Yong Lik Yien from Institute of Rejang Journalists (IRJ) as vice-president while the other exco members are Thng Joo Hua (NSJA) as secretary, Yek Choo Eng ( IRJ) assistant secretary, Liew Li Mui ( NSJA) - treasurer and Tiong Tak Liong ( IRJ) assistant treasurer.
The committee members are Teo Kee Hoe (NSJA), Esther Ching Heng Sing ( NSJA), Jacqueline Radoi David ( KDJA), Anasathia Jenis (KDJA), Rudi Affendi Khalik ( KDJA) and Jane Moh ( IRJ).
Jong in a statement yesterday said the main activities of the newly elected office-bearers this year are to make early preparation for the Kenyalang Journalism Award 2017.
The annual award which is the 29th in its series is organised jointly by the State Government and FSJA.
Shell supported the award since its inception while Petronas and Sarawak Energy Berhad started sponsoring the awards starting last year.
“We hoped that the state government and other sponsors will continue to give us their support so that the premier award can be organised successfully,” he said.
