Two women in suicide bids on same day

KUCHING: A young woman survived a suspected suicide attempt after family members rushed her to hospital early yesterday morning.

The 21-year- old from Sungai Apong is said to have hung herself in her bedroom using a bedsheet tied to the ceiling fan around 5am.

Her family members rushed the unconsciou­s victim to Sarawak General Hospital ( SGH) where medical personnel managed to revive her.

She is still warded in hospital following the incident.

In another suicide bid, a woman was sent to SGH after she drank a mixture of bleach and traditiona­l medicine.

The victim from a housing estate at Kuching- Serian Road was brought to hospital around 9am yesterday by a male acquaintan­ce who told medical personnel what had happened.

The woman’s condition stabilised after treatment, and she left with her friend.

It is unclear what had prompted her to consume the bleach.
