Onboard fire extinguishers save trailer from disaster

MIRI: Investing in fire extinguishers on board saved the owner of a trailer thousands of ringgit during a tyre fire along the Miri-Bintulu Road in Suai on Thursday.

The incident occurred around 5am at a spot located 127km from here.

Following a distress call at 5.08am, a team of seven Miri Fire and Rescue Department personnel onboard one fire engine arrived at the scene nearly two hours later.

They found the fire, which destroyed four tyres and the back section of the trailer, had already been doused using five fire extinguishers.

Firefighters spent an hour at the scene ensuring that the fire was completely put out.

The investigating officer later interviewed the driver on the fire before the team returned here.

Total loss has yet to be determined.
