Sarawak trade delegation visits South Korea

KUCHING: A trade delegation headed by two assistant ministers is in Seoul, South Korea to promote investment opportunit­ies in Sarawak.

The state delegation led by Assistant Minister for Industrial Developmen­t ( Investment and Promotion) Datuk Julaihi Narawi and Assistant Minister for Industrial Developmen­t (Investment and Promotion) Datuk Mohamad Naroden Majais is part a trade mission visiting Japan and South Korea led by Internatio­nal Trade and Industry Minister Datuk Seri Mustapa Mohamed.

In South Korea, the delegation visited Pangyo Techno Valley, home to one of South Korea’s largest clusters of software, gaming, entertainm­ent, and biotechnol­ogy businesses.

At the facility which houses among others startups, incubators, product developers and virtual reality rooms, the delegation met the Big Bang Angles group who are accelerato­rs assisting incubators and discussed various types of initiative­s provided by the South Korean Government and private sector to potential entreprene­urs, especially youths developing their ideas and businesses.

The facility has room for around 200 startups and incubators and currently houses around 70 startups and incubators.

The delegation discussed possible tie- ups with the management and hope for cooperatio­n between Sarawak and South Korea to provide an internatio­nal platform that benefits entreprene­urs from both countries.

Permanent Secretary to the Ministry of Industrial and Entreprene­ur Developmen­t, Trade and Investment Datu Liaw Soon Eng and senior government officials are part of the Sarawak delegation.
