PBDSB starts campaign against Hudud implementation today

-

KUCHING: Parti Bansa Dayak Sarawak Baru ( PBDSB) will launch ‘ I love Sarawak Campaign’ against implementation of Hudud in the state, today.

PBDSB president Cobbold John Lusoi told The Borneo Post yesterday the campaign is to state the party’s stand that all Sarawakians, especially members of Parliaments and assemblymen, regardless of political affiliation must take a firm stand against the Bill to amend Act 355.

He said the campaign is held in response to Parliament Speaker Tan Sri Pandikar Amin’s decision to allow PAS president Datuk Seri Abdul Hadi Awang to table a Bill to amend the Syariah Courts ( Criminal Jurisdiction) Act 1965 (Act 355) recently.

The Bill however was deferred to the next parliamentary sitting in July.

Abdul Hadi and PAS secretarygeneral Datuk Takiyuddin Hassan had both given their assurances that the Bill would not be enforced on nonMuslims.

However, Cobbold said PAS could say all they want but they would not influence the majority of Sarawakians because they know their rights based on the Malaysia Agreement 1963.
