No more low water pressure in northern Pulau Bruit in 20 months’ time

-

SARIKEI: A new high-level water tank ( HLT) is being constructed to ensure efficient supply and distribution of treated water to three villages in northern Pulau Bruit.

The tank now being built in Kampung Penipah will replace the almost completed one which broke while undergoing a leakage test in June 2015.

State Rural Water Supply Department ( central region) senior assistant director, John Wong, when briefing Tanjung Manis MP Datuk Norah Tun Abdul Rahman during her working visit to the project site on Wednesday, said works on the project started in August last year and scheduled for completion in 20 months’ time.

The new tank costing RM7.155 million to build would be a reinforced concrete ( RC) tank with 18- metre RC support structures (tower) and a capacity of 1.6 million litres.

When completed, the tank would be able to overcome the water pressure problem which had denied the residents of Penipah, Bruit and Tekajong from enjoying sufficient water supply, he said.

Initially, there was a slight delay in the project’s progress due to logistic problem involved in the transportation of heavy machinery to the site, he added.
