SRDC out to rid Sibu Jaya of dengue
SIBU: The Sibu Rural District Council ( SRDC) began a cleaning campaign to destroy Aedes mosquito breeding places in Sibu Jaya yesterday.
SRDC chairman Sempurai Petrus Ngelai said this is because a dengue outbreak has been declared in Sibu Jaya.
“We want to create awareness among the public that their surrounding area should be clean at all times in order to prevent dengue outbreak,” he said while distributing leaf lets on dengue prevention at the Sibu Jaya Commercial Centre yesterday.
He called on all quarters not to litter indiscriminately.
“We want to make sure that they comply with us. If possible we will be going to take stern action against those who are found to have breeding grounds for the Aedes mosquitoes.
“We therefore hope that all the owners or traders in Sibu Jaya always clean their premises or stall environment
