Dewanita DUBS to set up four branches this year

KUCHING: Sarawak Bumiputera Women Chamber of Commerce ( Dewanita DUBS or DDUBS) will set up branches in Sibu, Lawas, Kapit and Serian this year.

Its chairperso­n Juita Drap said with the setting up of these four branches, DDUBS hoped to increase its membership by another 300 people.

“As of this month , DDUBS membership stands at 600 and they are from Mukah, Miri, Bintulu, Samarahan and Sarikei branches. Dewanita DUBS is a platform to empower women and improve their profession­alism especially in the area of business and entreprene­urship,” she told reporters after DDUBS executive council members paid a courtesy cal l on Minister for Wel fare Women and Community Wellbeing Datuk Fatimah Abdullah at Masja in Petra Jaya here Thursday.

“We want to become a dynamic associatio­n to increase the number of excellent Bumiputera women entreprene­urs in the state. We also want them to be successful and become global entreprene­urs,” she added.

Fatimah who is DDUBS patron congratula­ted the new office bearers for the 2017 to 2019 term.

She commended DDUBS for developing members’ skills or talents through quality leadership and mentoring programmes.

DDUBS does not focus so much on the size of membership but on the quality of the members who are committed to its cause and enterprise­s.
