KUALA NERUS: Investigation into the death of former Alor Limbat assemblyman Alias Abdullah, who was gunned down at his house in October 2015, is ongoing, said Terengganu police chief Datuk Rosli Abdul Rahman.

He said investigation was in progress to obtain new leads into the nearly two-year- old case, which had been categorised as a high profile case.

“Indeed, the investigation takes a long time compared with other murder cases,” he said after the Voluntary Patrol Scheme ( SRS) with the Terengganu police chief programme here Thursday night.

He expressed confidence that the case could be solved with the assistance from Bukit Aman and that the police were tracking down the suspect.

In the 2pm incident, Alias was shot dead at close range by an unidentified man on a motorcycle at his home in Kampung Alor Limbat, Bukit Payong, Marang, upon returning from performing the Friday prayer.

Rosli said the police were also still investigating the murder of Alias’ cousin, Mat Jusoh Ali, 56, nicknamed Cikgu Zaki, a retired teacher, who was also gunned down at his house in Kampung Padang Midin near here on Aug 9, 2015. — Bernama
