V Shem-Wee Kiong fail to reach Singapore Open semis
SINGAPORE: National number one men’s doubles pair, Goh V Shem-Tan Wee Kiong failed to book a place in the semi-finals of the Singapore Open badminton tournament which offers total prize money of US$ 350,000.
The second seeded pair were tamed by Indonesian pair, Hardianto Hardianto- Berry Angriawan, 21-15 and 21-15 in a 36- minute match. When asked about the match against the Malaysian pair, Hardianto said: “The Malaysian pair made many unforced errors and this gave and advantage to win it.”
When approached by Bernama, V Shem and Wee Kiong declined to give any comments.
Hardianto-Angriawan will meet either world number one from China Li Junhui-Liu Yuchen or eighth seeded Indonesian pair, Ricky Karandasuwardi-Angga Pratama in the semifinals today. — Bernama
