VADS’ business solutions to support Malaysia’s digital economy

KUALA LUMPUR: VADS Bhd, a unit of Telekom Malaysia Bhd, has allocated a sizeable amount for investment to support Malaysia’s aspiration of its digital economy to contribute 20 per cent to the gross domestic product from the current 16.8 per cent.

Without disclosing the figure, chief executive officer, Massimo Migliuolo, said the company has a stateofthe- art data centre that provides solutions towards transformi­ng Malaysia’s business landscape to the ecommerce platform.

“Our solutions are not only to general business issues but tailored specifical­ly to industries – education, healthcare, finance, retail and even oil and gas,” he told Bernama.

Migl iuolo said these solutions will be able to provide quality and service assurance to the clients.

He said under the company’s customer engagement and concierge service, vConnect, VADS has over 80 speciallyc­rafted business solution packages cat egor is ed according to industries and types of solutions.

vConnect aims to empower value-base innovative solutions and services which will allow companies to focus on their core businesses, in line with TM’s philosophy of “Business Made Easier”.

Meanwhile, VADS has teamed up with national digital security specialist, CyberSecur­ity Malaysia, to drive the nation’s cyber secur i ty landscape by enhancing and creat ing diverse awareness on capacity building on cyber security across all market segments.

Following the signing of the f ive- year agreement, CyberSecur­ity, the agency under the Ministry of Science, Technology and Innovation, has establishe­d its own Cyber Security Marketplac­e on VADS Marketplac­e.

The marketplac­e consists of capacity building programmes that will benefit all market segments.

“To start off the programme, the f irst init iat ive wi l l comprise a total of 26 online cybersecur­ity awareness courses to further help market segments,” he said.

CyberSecur­ity chairman, Tan Sr i Mohd Azumi Mohamed, said cyber crime is a real threat to the digital way of life.

“With the country embracing the digital economy, we recognise the importance of having strategic partner to effectivel­y combat the broadening range of cyber threats,” he said.

Mohd Azumi said that in Malaysia, there were more than 8,300 cyber security inc ident s repor te d to CyberSecur­ity Malaysia in 2016.

As of March 2017, there have been about 1,850 cyber security incidents recorded, he said. — Bernama
