KUALA LUMPUR: Malaysia is confident of raking in sales of RM350 million at the 14th ChinaAsean Expo 2017 (CAEXPO 2017), up from RM329.6 million last year, says Deputy Minister of the Ministry of International Trade and Industry, Datuk Chua Tee Yong.

Chua said with the participation of new companies identified by Malaysia External Trade Development Corp ( Matrade), along with those involved in sectors such as food and beverages, lifestyle and services, Malaysia would be able to attract specific customers and business groups during the event.

He was speaking to reporters here yesterday on the CAEXPO 2017, themed ‘Jointly Build the 21th Century Maritime Silk Road, Promote Regional Economic Integration through Tourism’, which will be held from Sept 12-15, 2017 in Nanning, China.

“While we encourage existing companies to establish their brands there, we also hope the new companies could generate new sales and new generation of exports with their new products and services,” he said.

On the exhibitors at the event, Chua said, as of today, Matrade had registered 32 newcomers who were mainly involved in food and beverages and tourism sectors.

He hoped the newcomers could make up more than half of the total exhibitors of the event.

Earlier, Matrade Chief Executive Officer, Ir Dr Mohd Shahreen Zainooreen Madros, said 180 participants from local companies and government agencies were expected to join the CAEXPO 2017.

Malaysian companies who are keen to participate in the event are encouraged to register online by June 2, 2017. — Bernama
