Tasik Biru rep allocates RM20,000 for Bau District Council

-

KUCHING: The upcoming 60th anniversary celebration of Bau District Council received a boost following financial assistance from Tasik Biru assemblyman Dato Henry Harry Jinep.

When presenting Minor Rural Project ( MRP) funds in Bau recently, Henry allocated RM20,000 for the council, which is now working hard to finalise the preparations for the celebration.

It is learnt that Chief Minister Datuk Amar Abang Johari Tun Openg will be invited to the event this July 15, during which new development projects for Bau District are also expected to be announced.

The objective of the celebration is to remember the founding of Bau District Council and the idea was mooted last year.

Meanwhile, Henry gave out a total of RM135,000 in MRP grants to 23 recipients at his service centre in Bau recently.

The recipients included Dayak Bidayuh National Association ( DBNA), which received RM30,000 for its ‘Heritage School’ programme.

In his remarks, Henry reiterated his decision not to give MRP funds for activities that would only bring short term enjoyment.

He said he would rather see the MRP funds for Tasik Biru be given to deserving individuals and organisations, with initiatives and programmes that would bring long-term benefit to the greater society.
