Awang Tengah visits families of fire victims at Kampung Melusok
LAWAS: Bukit Sari assemblyman Datuk Amar Awang Tengah Ali Hasan, who is Second Minister of Resource Planning and Environment, is saddened by the loss of two brothers in the tragic fire incident on Good Friday.
He visited their families at Kampung Melusok, Jalan Punang on Saturday shortly after arriving in Lawas to express his condolences and sympathy.
He was accompanied by his wife Datuk Dayang Morliah Awang Daud and Limbang Fire and Rescue Station chief Mohd Zaki Husin.
Mohd Zaki briefed the minister on the incident which claimed the life of siblings Teo Yun Tiong and Teo Yin See @ Chang Yin See.
The deceased’s families were touched by the visit by the minister, who also presented his personal donation to them to lighten their burden.
During the fire that occurred at about 2am, Yun Tiong, the younger sibling, was trapped in the blazing fire while trying to save Yin Hee who was sleeping in a room upstairs.
He was in the adjacent house when he awoke to see the semiconcrete house of his elder brother on fire.
Mohd Zaki said bodies of the two siblings were found on the ground floor, with the elder brother and his bed falling through the collapsed floor of the semi- concrete building.
Investigation is still under way to ascertain the cause of the fire although an electrical short circuit is suspected to be the culprit.
Also present were Limbang Resident Datuk Maria Hasman, Limbang Division Land and Survey Department superintendent Arnie Abdul Rahman, Limbang RTD chief Julaihie Dison, Awang Damit Ali Hassan and others.
