SHF to hold Women’s Heart Day at tHe Spring April 23

KUCHING: The Sarawak Heart Foundation is collaborat­ing with the Sarawak Heart Centre to organise Women’s Heart Day at the Spring here on April 23 from 10am to 5pm.

Chief Minister’s wife Datin Amar Dato Juma’ani Tun Tuanku Bujang will officiate at the event themed, “With a Healthy Heart, the Beat goes On”.

Throughout the day, various activities including free health screening, dancing and children’s colouring contest will be held.

The Sarawak Heart Centre will conduct free health screening and breast examinatio­n for the public from 10am till 5pm. The health screening covers body mass index, blood glucose, cholestero­l as well as health counsellin­g by medical personnel.

Members of the public who intend to do the health screening are advised to fast at least six hours before the finger prick blood test for more accurate results.

For the children’s colouring contest, there are two categories i.e: 7 to 9 years old and 10 to 12 years old.

There will also be line dance and zumba performanc­es and a yoga session.

Women’s Heart Day or Wear Red Day as it is also known, is observed to raise awareness on heart diseases and to promote better heart health for women of all ages.

The Foundation is a non- profit organisati­on that depends on the kind support and generosity of the public for funds to help needy heart patients in Sarawak and to educate the public on heart disease and prevention.

It organises regular health screenings throughout Sarawak to create awareness among the public, especially young people, on the various aspects of heart illness, early prevention and control of the disease.
