Winners shine bright at BPAM Bond Market Awards 2017
KUCHING: Several winners shine bright during the 2017 Bond Pricing Agency Malaysia (BPAM) Award Presentation Ceremony was held in Kuala Lumpur last week.
As the fourth edition of the award presentation ceremony, the event brings together key industry players with the aim to celebrate the outstanding achievements in the Malaysian fixed income market.
In his welcome speech Meor Amri Meor Ayob, chief executive officer of Bond Pricing Agency Malaysia, noted that innovation and adaptability are critical for the financial industry.
With the increase of globalisation, the evolution of information technology, big data, and associated technologies, there is enormous potential for positive impact on business growth opportunities.
Bond Pricing Agency Malaysia said the twelve awards winners are selected based on BPAM League Tables for the calendar year 2016 covering rated and nonrated bonds.
The overall winner for the Top Bond Issuer is Sunway Sukuk Treasury Sdn Bhd, while Sabah Development Bank Bhd won under the conventional category and Sunway Sukuk Treasury Sdn Bhd won under Islamic.
Under Top Traded, Cagamas Bhd was the leader of all three categories. Pacific Trustees Bhd won overall, conventional and Islamic categories of the Top Trustee segemnt.
Meanwhile for Top Lead Arranger, OCIMB Investment Bank Bhd garnered overall and conventional categoties while Maybank Investment Bank Bhd won for Islamic category.
During his address at the BPAM Bond Market Awards Presentation Ceremony, Securities Commission executive director Kamarudin Hashim explained, “The Securities Commission is confident that the corporate sukuk and bond market will continue to provide a vital source of financing that mobilises private capital into the real sectors of the economy for growth through 2017.”
Kamarudin congratulated the winners and applauded the BPAM for their commitment and dedication in supporting regulatory and developmental efforts to foster a conducive ecosystem for efficient fundraising, trading, and investment through the local currency sukuk and bond market.
