Surrender or be hunted down, cops warn suspects

-

KUCHING: Fourteen individuals wanted in connection with the murder of a Sibu businessman are urged to surrender themselves immediately or face being hunted down.

State Police Commissioner Datuk Mazlan Mansor said the 14 suspects are from a narrowed-down list of 17 persons whom police believe can assist in their investigation of last Thursday’s killing.

“We have narrowed down the list to 17 suspects and have already caught three of them. We have already identified all of them and it will only be a matter of time before we get the remaining 14,” he said during a press conference at state police headquarters here yesterday.

He urged those still on the loose to not waste time and surrender themselves to the police for questioning over the incident, failing which they will be ‘hunted down.’

“The quicker they surrender, the better. We will hunt for them and there is no place for them to hide. Sooner or later we will get them so (it is) better for them to surrender now,” he said.

On the investigation into the report lodged by former national sprint king Watson Nyambek over the slur of his late father’s name by a television presenter, Mazlan said police are aiming to wrap up their investigation as quickly as possible before proceeding with further action.

“We will be contacting him (the presenter) today (yesterday) over the report made by Watson. As the incident happened in Peninsular Malaysia, it will take a bit of time so let us complete our investigation first,” he said, adding the case has been classified under Section 504 of the Penal Code.
