MARUDI: Marudi may become a division in the future if everyone works together to develop the area.

Assistant Minister of Local Government Datu Dr Penguang Manggil, who is Marudi assemblyman, said it is his dream for Marudi to be upgraded into a division.

“To be the division of the Orang Ulu can be a reality in the future,” he said during ‘Solidarity Night’ for federal building staff here recently.

Penguang pointed out that he recently announced an allocation of RM3 million, approved by Prime Minister Datuk Seri Najib Tun Razak for Marudi, which would mostly go to longhouses in the constituency.

“So during my time as a firstterm BN ( Barisan Nasional) representative, Marudi has gained more than RM100,000 million in projects and this includes RM23 million for the waterfront, RM77.4 million for the Miri- Marudi Road, RM17.3 million for the embankment project, RM3.5 million for repairing Fort Hose, and RM11 million for the industrial estate,” he said.

He said the Marudi-Mulu road would also be upgraded and the Pan- Borneo Highway may also possibly reach Marudi.

Penguang also called on staff of government agencies to work together for the betterment of the area.
