KUCHING: The Planning Team Group 1 ( KPL 1) of the Malaysian and Indonesian armies had their inaugural meeting on the Kekar Malindo 41AB/2017 training at Tarakan District North Kalimantan ( Kaltara) in Sept 2017 at the 3rd Infantry Brigade headquarters in Penrissen Camp here yesterday.

The Malaysian Army was represented by 3rd Infantry Brigade while the Indonesian army was represented by Briged Infantri 24/ Bulungan Chakti Kalimantan Utara.

Commander of 3rd Infantry Brigade Brigadier General Mohd Bustaman Mat Zin said the purpose of the meeting was to give both armies a pre-planning scenario of the training excercise at Tarakan and ways to coordinate the training.

“The Malindo training excercise on September will be hosted by Indonesia, which is done in rotation. In 2016, the excercise was held in Malaysia,” he told a press conference before a closed- door meeting on the training excercise yesterday.

Bustaman said armies of the two countries had been working together on military activities since the top-level leadership meeting of the joint border committee (JBC).

He also said the two armies would continue with such training and to improve it from time-totime. Bustaman added that the training module would be suggested by the host country – be it conventional or non- conventional warfare or mainline operation of the army.

“We will follow whatever is being planned by the host country as this is after all a joint effort military excercise,” he said.

Meanwhile, Colonel Aditya Nindra Pasha, S.E of Briged Infantri 24/Bulungan Chakti said the training exercise of the two armies was important to foster greater relationship.

“The excercise will boost competency of the two armies and also strengthen our long biltareal military ties,” he said.
