Aaron Kwok explains why he chose low-key reception

-

HONG KONG: Singer- actor Aaron Kwok has explained why he had opted for a low-key wedding reception.

Aaron, 51, had married model Moka Fang, 29, on Apr 18. They had been dating for two years.

Explained Aaron: “I think it’s very normal. It was not a secret. We approached this matter naturally. My wish, as well as my family’s wish, was to keep things low profile. So for my big day, I wanted to keep it low-key. Thank you everyone for your blessings and understanding.”

According to Aaron, they were engaged last December. Because both he and Moka had busy schedules, family members worked with wedding planners on the reception.

On whether Moka is pregnant, Aaron’s evasive reply was: “I’ll work hard. In short, I’ll share with everyone if there is good news.”

On reports that Moka is not past her first trimester and Chinese superstition dictates that nothing be voiced, he said: “Give me some time. When the time is right, I’ll share with everyone. In short, I’ve always said this: I got married because my mother wishes to see me settle down. I could feel that during the entire wedding banquet, my mom was very happy and touched. I think I’m even more touched than she was. As a son, I had always hoped to do the right thing at the right time. Right now, I have settled down. The next step would be to start a family.”

Meanwhile, actor Julian Cheung, who was one of the groomsmen, provided some details on what transpired during the reception.

Said Julian: “It was a very happy occasion. I didn’t know what I was supposed to do (as a groomsman) until I got there. I did help him drink some alcohol. But the whole event went very smoothly. The door- opening games went smoothly.”

Aaron’s entourage also included choreographer Sunny Wong, fashion businessman Sham Kar Wai, and celebrity fashion designer Dorian Ho.

On reports that Julian was the best-looking in the group, he shrugged and replied: “They’re exaggerating. Don’t play with me. That night, I felt very happy seeing Aaron settle down. Everyone had bright smiles on their faces. In comparison, I really didn’t do enough (for my own wedding). I didn’t have a tea ceremony for our parents. I feel a tinge of regret.”
