Malaysia set for 100 days countdown
KUALA LUMPUR: The 100 days countdown that starts on Thursday will mark a significant milestone for organisers, athletes and officials in preparing for the 29th Kuala Lumpur SEA Games ( KL 2017) scheduled from Aug 1930.
Just like the Malaysian SEA Games Organising Committee ( Masoc) which has entered the final phase of preparations, the Malaysian SEA Games contingent has also entered the third and final phase of intensive training although the actual training had started way back in September 2015.
Preparations for the SEA Games had started under the ‘Kita Juara’ programme that was specifically initiated to ensure the Malaysian contingent emerged as the overall champion in the SEA Games.
National Sports Council ( NSC) director- general Datuk Ahmad Shapawi Ismail said the third phase would be the busiest period for athletes, coaches, officials, NSC, National Sports Institute ( ISN) and the Olympic Council
The final phase will involve a simulation process for many to enhance their technique, skills or performance.
of Malaysia ( OCM). He said the final phase was also important for coaches to ensure their athletes are not injured or involved in any unwanted activities that can jeopardise their chances of representing the country.
“The final phase will involve a simulation process for many to enhance their technique, skills or performance. There will also be team building, motivation and carious other initiatives to prepare the athletes for the tough competition expected.”
Malaysia had emerged as the overall champion in 2001 when the games was held in Kuala Lumpur after winning 111 gold, 75 silver and 85 bronze medals. — Bernama
