26 nabbed in raids on two premises during Ops Noda

BINTULU: Fifteen Vietnamese women, a male Indonesian and 10 other individual­s believed to be clients were arrested during raids on two premises here during ‘Ops Noda’ on Tuesday night.

The caretaker of an entertainm­ent outlet at Assyakirin Commercial Centre and another of a massage centre at Jalan Abang Galau were also arrested.

According to Bintulu police chief Supt Zailanni Amit, said the suspects – aged between 22 and 35 – are being investigat­ed under Section 55B of Immigratio­n Act 1959/63, Section 6(1) 9c) of the same Act and Section 372B of the Penal Code.

The enforcers also seized receipt slips, used condoms, some cash and book-keeping ledgers from the premises.

In an unrelated case, a 43-yearold man was arrested by police at 9.50pm on Tuesday in suspicion of him being involved in a motorcycle theft.

The man was apprehende­d at Mile 5 of Bintulu-Tatau Road. The case is being investigat­ed under Section 379A of Penal Code, and Section 6(1) of the Corrosives and Explosive Substances and Offensive Weapons Act 1958.

The man was seen behaving in a very suspicious manner and when stopped, police learned that the motorcycle he was riding on matched the one reported stolen on March 31.

Police also seized several items such as a hammer, a samurai sword, a saw and a modified small knife from the suspect.
