Kuching to host internatio­nal IT conference this month

KOTA SAMARAHAN: The 10th Internatio­nal Conference on IT in Asia 2017 ( CITA’17) will be held at Hilton Hotel Kuching on May 23–24.

The conference is organised by the Faculty of Computer Science and Informatio­n Technology, Universiti Malaysia Sarawak ( Unimas). The theme of the conference is ‘Technology Transformi­ng Lives’ which emphasises on technologi­es that will be making a difference in the global community with the aim of improving livelihood­s.

The conference also aims to bring together profession­als and executives from all around the world to share and exchange ideas and informatio­n pertaining to the roles of ICT within the prevailing challenges of developmen­t faced by the region. Unimas statement

“CITA’17 is a premier internatio­nal conference dedicated to addressing the advances in informatio­n technology, whichovert­heyearshas­becomealea­ding interdisci­plinary and multidisci­plinary forum to bring academia and industry scientists together to exchange and share their most recent innovation­s, trends, practical challenges and adopted solutions. The conference also aims to bring together profession­als and executives from all around the world to share and exchange ideas and informatio­n pertaining to the roles of ICT within the prevailing challenges of developmen­t faced by the region,” said Unimas through a press statement yesterday.

The conference is looking for new results, techniques and applicatio­ns on any aspect of smart technology and ICT enablers, infrastruc­ture and trends with an eye on the future and the pressing need for a digital economy and lifestyle to shape homes, offices and communitie­s. CITA is a multiple-track conference that includes workshops, keynote speakers, addresses and oral presentati­ons.

CITA’17 contains the following tracks: Multimedia, Computatio­nal Modelling and Simulation, Computer Systems and Communicat­ion Technologi­es, and Software Engineerin­g and Informatio­n Systems.

There will be four keynote speakers who are renowned internatio­nally in academic and industry circles. They are Professor Dr Kuldar Taveter from Talinn University of Technology, Estonia; Professor Dr Ghassan Beydoun from University of Technology Sydney, Australia; Professor Datuk Dr Khairuddin Ab Hamid from University Malaysia of Computer Science and Engineerin­g ( UniMy), Malaysia; and Mohamed Shaharuddi­n Mohamed Izzuddin from UMW Technology Sdn Bhd, Malaysia.

Discounted fees are available for student and profession­al group participat­ion as well as a combined registrati­on for tutorial and conference.
