300 youths attend National Transformation Dialogue

-

KAPIT: A total of 300 youths attended the Kapit Divisionlevel National Transformation Dialogue 2050 ( TN50) at the civic centre here on Tuesday.

They were members of Barisan Nasional component party youth wings, youth clubs and Form 6 students.

Kapit Deputy Resident (development) Galong Luang said the objective was to create a digital database here in line with Chief Minister Datuk Amar Abang Johari Tun Openg’s vision of a digital economy.

“Kapit has 115,000 people, Sarawak – 2.6 million, and Malaysia – 30 million. In terms of development aspects – road accessibility only 29.9 per cent, piped water supply – 32 per cent, and electricity by state grid or alternative power supply – 37 per cent. We’ve to do a lot to catch up.

“Youths must think responsibly how best to develop Kapit in terms of human resources and physical infrastructure and amenity services,” he said.

Nicholas Kudi Jantai – a political secretary to the chief minister – said the dialogue was for youths to voice their ideas and aspirations of what Malaysia should be for compilation and analysis in order to develop relevant policies.

“It’s vital to think critically how best to develop our nation Malaysia. What type of life would we like it to be? How to improve our livelihoods aiming for high income?” he said.
