ACCIM, CENAM ink MoU to promote long-term cooperation
KUALA LUMPUR: The Associated Chinese Chambers of Commerce and Industry of Malaysia (ACCIM) has inked a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with the Chinese Enterprises Association in Malaysia (CENAM) to promote long-term cooperation and common development goals.
President Datuk Ter Leong Yap said both ACCIM and CENAM had very similar founding objectives and had maintained a close relationship.
‘The MoU was entered into on the basis of furthering this mutual interest and have achieved consensus on several issues.
“In future, we will jointly plan and organise various economic and trade activities, as well as provide a platform for interaction and mutual visits to strengthen ties among our members, while improving the exchange of information on industry, commerce, trade and investment between China and Malaysia,” he added.
Speaking to reporters at the MoU signing ceremony here yesterday, he said regular interaction with members of CENAM which comprised Chinese investors in Malaysia, would lead to the exploring of more business opportunities in both countries.
He said ACCIM had over 100,000 members from various sectors, small to large, and by providing a wide range of business information, they could better plan business strategies and future development.
Ter said CENAM had played an instrumental role in assisting Chinese enterprises integrate with the Malaysian corporate culture more rapidly and pool their strength in the country.
He said with 2017 being the year for both the deepening of practical cooperation, more Chinese companies will increasingly invest in Malaysia and CENAM could serve as a bridge towards leading them into the country.
He said large scale projects undertaken by Chinese companies in Malaysia had created more jobs and stimulated economic development within it.
However, he added, there is still much room for development in many industrial sectors and among those to be explored are agricultural and primary products, halal food products, ecommerce , logistics, information technology and green energy.
Meanwhile, CENAM President Wang Hongwei said with China’s “going out strategy” there had been an increasing number of Chinese enterprises venturing outside the mainland, including to Malaysia.
Thus, he said, it was important to find good partners to assist them in acquiring knowledge of the local market.
For Malaysia, he said ACCIM was the best partner and a good platform for business matching.
