UPP to hold extraordin­ary delegates’ conference today

KUCHING: United People’s Party ( UPP) is holding an extraordin­ary delegates’ conference at 11am today at KTS Garden.

Its president Dato Sri Wong Soon Koh said the meeting is to update members on the latest political developmen­t in the state and the party’s achievemen­ts.

“The meeting is to update our delegates on what we have been doing as well as the latest achievemen­ts and developmen­t. It is also to inform members of the agenda forward,” said Wong.

He said party members need to be briefed on the developmen­t agenda of Chief Minister Datuk Amar Abang Johari Tun Openg for the state.

“We need to rally our members to get ready to give full support to the new agenda formulated by the chief minister. We will call on all our members to give support to the chief minister and his vision which will lead the state to make a quantum leap into digital economy. The vision will bring Sarawak into a new phase of developmen­t,” said Wong who is the Minister of Internatio­nal Trade and E- Commerce and Second Finance Minister at a press conference at his office at Bangunan Baitulmakm­ur here yesterday.

“We will take the opportunit­y to introduce to our member the new portfolio assumed by deputy president Datuk Dr Jerip Susil who has been appointed the Assistant Minister of Transporta­tion,” said Wong.

Wong said it is an important portfolio and a heavy responsibi­lity for Dr Jerip.

Meanwhile, Dr Jerip said members will also be briefed on the new appointmen­t of Wong as the new Internatio­nal Trade and E- Commerce Minister.

“Apart from thanking our chief minister, we would take the opportunit­y to pledge our full support to him.

“We want to thank the chief minister for his confidence and trust in the party.

“We will also be giving full support to our president ( Wong) in his new duty as the Internatio­nal Trade and E- Commerce Minister,” said Dr Jerip.
