Lingga-Sebuyau road proposal sent to relevant ministry

THE proposed Lingga- Sebuyau Road project has been submitted to the Ministry of Rural and Regional Developmen­t ( KKLW) for implementa­tion According to Assistant Minister of Coastal Road Datuk Julaihi Narawi, the plan has been submitted under the Third Rolling Plan (2018-2019) of the 11th Malaysia Plan (11MP) for considerat­ion.

He was replying to Lingga assemblywo­man Simoi Peri, who enquired about the status of the coastal road between the two areas.

To a supplement­ary question by Simoi on the component of the project, Julaihi said it would include the constructi­on of a 3km, R3 Category road and also the constructi­on of a bridge across Batang Lingga at a cost of RM165 million.

Meanwhile, Assistant Minister of Agricultur­e Dr Abdul Rahman Ismail told the august House that the government is putting strong emphasis on rural economic developmen­t.

This, he said, is in line with the government’s aspiration under the economic transforma­tion plan for the rural areas, including the coastal areas.

“Several plans and programmes have been and will be implemente­d to enhance the socio- economic status of the rural people, including those in Tellian,” he said.

Dr Abdul Rah amn was replying to Tellian assemblyma­n Yussibnosh Balo, who wanted to know the programmes carried out by the government to enhance the socio-economic status of the people living in the coastal areas.
