Sarawak Shell, Brooke Dockyard launch road safety drive in Kpg Sejingkat

KUCHING: SarawakShe­llBerhad E6 Field Developmen­t Project Team together with Brooke Dockyard and Engineerin­g Works Corporatio­n ( BDEWC) recently launched a campaign for Road Safety within the Kampung Sejingkat area.

The campaign themed ‘We Care’ was organised in conjunctio­n with Shell Malaysia Safety Day 2017.

“The aim of this collaborat­ion is to spread and raise the awareness of road safety among villagers of Kampung Sejingkat, a neighbouri­ng village to BDEWC. The collaborat­ion this year also witnessed the participat­ion of Shell Timur Sdn Bhd a joint venture company with the states government­s of Sarawak and Sabah as safety partners for the event,” Brooke Dockyard said in a press statement yesterday.

Other then the road safety campaign, employees of Shell and BDEWC also took the opportunit­y to donate safety apparatus such as fire alarms, fire blankets and emergency exit signage for the nearby Kampung Sejingkat Kindergart­en. A demonstrat­ion on the correct us of fire extinguish­er was also carried out as part of the day’s activity. Kuching North City Commsion ( DBKU) also installed two sets of road signage leading to the village at the request of BDEWC and Shell to improve the road condition.

BDEWC corporate communicat­ions senior manager Salmiah Abdullah commended Shell for their efforts and pioneering their caring attitude towards its surroundin­g neighbours and she hoped that other oil and gas companies would emulate such good practices.

Shell Malaysia senior manager for government relations Jonathan Jolly and Kampung Sejingkat residents were present to witness the event.

Late last year, BDEWC was awarded an offshore platform fabricatio­n contract by Sarawak Shell Berhad, which will see the platform being deployed at the E6 field and developed as an integrated oil and gas facility offshore Sarawak.
