-

KUCHING: The women’s wing of Sarawak United National Youths Organisation (Saberkas) is encouraged to fight for the direction of the digital economy in the state.

According to Assistant Minister of Law, State-Federal Relations and Project Monitoring, Sharifah Hasidah Sayeed Aman Ghazali, Sarawakian women more or less play an important role in technology through their entrepreneurship.

“I believe more women can be involved in the digital economy through entrepreneurship. As for now, many of them have managed to market online products such as beads, handbags and others,” she said.

This contributes to the digital economy in the state, and it can be developed further.

She said in her speech that she hoped women in Sarawak would continue to help the government by supporting its initiative in developing ICT infrastructure.

“Chief Minister Datuk Amar Abang Johari Tun Openg has allocated RM1 billion for building infrastructure to develop the digital economy in the state. It involves developing internet speed throughout the state among others,” she said.

SharifahHasidahhopedSaberkas women’s wing will become a model organisation for others in the not so distant future.

Present at the ceremony was the seminar’s organising committee chairperson Tina Edward Munyug.
