Integrity should be a way of life, says Lam Thye

-

KUCHING: Social activist Tan Sri Lee Lam Thye is all praise for the Sarawak government’s move in creating a portfolio focusing on integrity and ombudsman in the state cabinet.

Lee, who is also the chairman of National Institute of Occupational Safety and Health ( NIOSH), said this during his courtesy visit on the new Minister in the Chief Minister’s Office (Integrity and Ombudsman) Datuk Talib Zulpilip recently,.

“The creation of such post can be more effective than the Public Complaints Bureau,” he said, adding that integrity ought to be practised as a culture in today’s society.

He opined that with the creation of such a ministry, the minister himself could inculcate integrity at all levels of society, including at the schools.

Lee presented a book written by himself entitled ‘Advocating OSH For All’ to Talib.

He had earlier met with Minister for Local Government and Housing Datuk Dr Sim Kui Hian at the latter’s residence.

This was followed by a luncheon meeting with Minister of Welfare, Community Wellbeing, Women, Family and Childhood Development Datuk Fatimah Abdullah at a local hotel.

In the afternoon, Lee led his entourage comprising personnel from Trac-Wheels (M) Sdn Bhd led by the managing director Richard Song Swee Jin and director of its subsidiary company TM TEC Academy Sdn Bhd Lawrence Lee Chin Fook, as well as associate trainer specialising in Teska and Tadika health care training programme Chin Kui Siam, to meet Sarawak Energy Berhad Group CEO Sharbini Suhaili.
