Blood donation drive collects 37 pints for Miri blood bank

MIRI: A blood donation drive run by the Miri Division Gawai Dayak Committee on Wednesday managed to collect 37 pints.

According to event’s organising chairman Mathew Dominic Madai, 47 people registered for the donation which was held at Bintang Mega Mall, but 10 of them were not able to donate.

“On behalf of the committee, we would like to express our thanks and gratitude to all donors as well as those involved, including the management of Bintang Megamall, Miri Hospital Blood Bank and members of the organising committee who had worked hard to ensure the success of this donation drive,” said Mathew, who is also the local branch chairman of Sarawak Bisaya Associatio­n.

Among those present at the event were Miri Division Gawai Dayak Committee 2017 chairman Wilfred Mac, Councillor Mathew Benson Mounsey, Dayak Bidayuh National Associatio­n ( DBNA) Miri treasurer Michael Veno and Sarawak Berawan Associatio­n secretary Loretta Herbert Madang.

The blood donation drive was part of the activities ahead of the division-level Gawai Dayak celebratio­n dinner to be held at Meritz Hotel here tomorrow.

The Miri Division Gawai Dayak Committee comprises members of Miri Resident’s Office, Dayak Associatio­n Miri ( DAM), Serakup Indu Dayak Sarawak ( SIDS), Federation of Orang Ulu Associatio­ns Malaysia ( Forum), Dayak Bidayuh National Associatio­n ( DBNA) Miri, Kenyah National Associatio­n Sarawak ( PKKS), Sarawak Kayan Associatio­n ( PKS), Sarawak Berawan Associatio­n ( PBS), Sarawak Lun Bawang Associatio­n ( PLBS), Rurum Kelabit Sarawak (RKS), Sarawak Lakiout Associatio­n ( PLS), Sarawak Bisaya Associatio­n Miri ( PBSM), Saban Community Associatio­n Miri ( PMSM), and Penan Petipun Associatio­n Sarawak ( Petipun).
