Selangor MB meets PAS state exco members

-

SHAH ALAM: PKR deputy president Datuk Seri Mohamed Azmin Ali yesterday expressed disappointment over the PAS termination of political cooperation with PKR and said it was a move that marginalised the needs of the people.

Mohamed Azmin, who is the Selangor menteri besar, said he had worked hard personally and on behalf of PKR to ensure that the political cooperation was safeguarded. He spoke to reporters at the Selangor State Secretariat building here.

The Syura Council, the highest decision-making body of PAS, yesterday unanimously decided to terminate the political cooperation (tahaluf siyasi) with PKR with immediate effect, citing PKR violations of the agreement that was established at the 11th general election in 2004.

Mohamed Azmin said the PASPKR political cooperation had, since 2008, brought much benefit to the development of Islam and Muslims in Selangor.

Earlier, he had a meeting with the three Selangor PAS state executive councillors - Datuk Iskandar Abdul Samad, Datuk Dr Ahmad Yunus Hairi and Zaidy Abdul Talib - and Selangor PAS commissioner Sallehen Mukhy to hear their interpretation of the Syura Council decision.

He said he would convey the PAS explanation to PKR president Datuk Seri Dr Wan Azizah Wan Ismail for subsequent action.

The Selangor government led by Mohamed Azmin has three state executive councillors each from PKR, PAS and DAP.

Iskandar holds the Housing, Building Management and Urban Living portfolio; Dr Ahmad Yunus, Education, Human Capital Development, Science and Technology and Innovation and Zaidy, Infrastructure and Public Amenities, Agriculture and Agrobased Industry Modernisation. — Bernama
