Malaysians can now stream international rugby for free
KUALA LUMPUR: Malaysian fans can now watch international rugby games for free via digital streaming with RugbyPass until the end of the year.
RugbyPass ’ ‘ Free Rugby’ campaign was launched on Thursday in time for the Aviva Premiership and Super Rugby Finals, the Summer Internationals, and the British and Irish Lions Tour of New Zealand.
“We’ve been blown away by the passion for rugby at school and club level in Malaysia and wanted to find a way to support and inspire the rugby community at the same time,” said RugbyPass.com chief executive Tim Martin in a press release.
“So we’re opening up RugbyPass. com to Malaysian subscribers for the rest of the year – from Super Rugby, to the Lions Tour of New Zealand, to the Autumn Internationals.”
Martin said growing the game in Malaysia means getting the world’s best teams and players on devices and screens more often.
“We think there’s a strong appetite for rugby in Malaysia, but pay TV has limited access to the emerging digital-first fan base, so we’re setting it free from all the barriers that get in the way of the Malaysian fan enjoying the best the game can dish up. No fees, no contracts, no credit card details needed, no bundles. We’re letting rugby run free,” he said.
Besides live and on- demand streaming of all the world’s major competitions and international matches, RugbyPass. com also offers new content initiatives complementing its core match centre offerings.
“Since launching the world’s first dedicated OTT (over-the-top) rugby platform a year ago, we have witnessed a massive shift towards flexible content, available wherever and whenever you want it. We also invested heavily in rights to ensure that RugbyPass.com offers the most comprehensive rugby service, at times streaming up to eight live games concurrently,” said Martin.
RugbyPass brings together the world’s best rugby competitions, including all South African, New Zealand and Australian Rugby ( Sanzaar) content including Super Rugby and British Lions Tour in New Zealand 2017; Aviva Premiership; Anglo-Welsh Cup; European Champions Cup; Autumn Internationals for England, Ireland, Wales, France and Scotland; all home games played by England outside of the Six Nations; all home games played by Argentina; and the Asian Championship and Sevens Series.
