CIMB bags top distinctions and special merit at RAM Awards
KUALA LUMPUR: CIMB Investment Bank Bhd (CIMB) has been honoured with three major awards at the 14th Annual RAM League Awards held in Kuala Lumpur, recently.
The awards recognised the bank’s role in the Malaysian debt capital markets for the year 2016.
Three RAM Awards of Distinction 2016 recognised CIMB’s capabilities and these awards are the ‘ Lead Manager Award 2016, by Programme Value’, ‘ Lead Manager Award 2016, by Number of Issues’, and ‘ Malaysian Debt Capital Market League Award 2016, by Programme Value’.
CIMB received the special merit award, which was the Malaysian Debt Capital Market League Award 2016 by Programme Value – First Placing, in recognition of CIMB’s leadership position in the Malaysian debt capital markets.
CIMB Investment Bank chief executive officer Datuk Kong Sooi Lin, said: “We are both honoured and humbled to be recognised as the top go-to investment bank for the Malaysian debt capital markets.

In 2016, CIMB maintained its No.1 position in Bloomberg’s Malaysian ringgit bonds league table for the 12th consecutive year, with a 26.6 per cent share of total issuances by deal value. CIMB topped the Asean Local Currency Bonds league table in 2016 for the sixth consecutive year since 2011, with a market share of 13.2 per cent as well as the Bloomberg Global Sukuk league table in 2016, with a market share of 12.8 per cent, affirming CIMB’s dominance in the global sukuk market for three consecutive years and topping the same league table for eight out of the last ten years.
Other prominent issuer- clients which CIMB had worked with include Khazanah Nasional Bhd, Axiata Group Bhd, the Islamic Development Bank, the International Finance Facility for Immunisation, Islamic Corporation for the Development of the Private Sector, China Development Bank, China Construction Bank (Asia) Corporation Ltd and Krungthai Bank PCL.
