KUCHING: A total of RM112,625.64 was raised from the ‘Ibu Nakhoda Hidup’ programme, an initiative to assist entrepreneur mothers in Malaysia to grow their businesses.

Jointly organised by Mydin Mohamed Holdings Berhad (Mydin), Procter & Gamble (P&G) and Pertubuhan Pembangunan Kendiri Wanita dan Gadis, the programme will have its proceeds channelled to selected participants for 2017.

The amount raised was sourced from purchases of P&G products from Mydin from March to May 2017.

Yesterday’s programme which gathers around 60 entrepreneurs saw the highlight, a sharing and Q&A session with Mydin director Datin Wira Dr Siti Hawa Mohd.

During the session, Hawa shared the struggles of Mydin from humble beginnings as a plywood store, before expanding and venturing into hypermarket business, with over 300 branches nationwide.

The session also saw Hawa and Mydin managing director Datuk Wira Ameer Ali Mydin in a Q&A session with the entrepreneurs on how to expand and grow businesses.

The ‘Ibu Nakhoda Hidup’ 2017 event witnessed three on ground engagements in Selangor, Kelantan and Kuching besides a tour to 10 Mydin locations across Malaysia.

An addition to the programme is ‘Impian Seorang Ibu’ which is a video contest for the public to share their conversations with their mothers on their dreams for their families. It was extended to May 21, where five lucky winners stand a chance to win Mydin vouchers worth RM1,000.
