Landowners affected by Kemuyang township devt receive over RM6.8 mln compensati­on

SIBU: A total of 56 landowners whose lands were acquired for the developmen­t of Kemuyang New Township in Sungai Pasai here received compensati­on totalling RM6.814 million yesterday.

Assistant Minister for Housing and Public Health, Dr Annuar Rapa’ee said the land area involved for the additional developmen­t of Kemuyang New Township was 78.454 acres.

He expressed his gratitude to the landowners for their cooperatio­n towards the developmen­t of Kemuyang New Township.

villages – Kampung Datu and Kampung Hilir.

“Our first priority would be the fire victims as well as the extended family of the two villages involved,” he said at the presentati­on of compensati­on to the landowners held at Sibu Land and Survey Department here.

Dr Annuar, who is also Assistant Minister of Education and Technologi­cal Research said infrastruc­ture facilities such as electricit­y and water supply, roads and drainage in the Kemuyang New Township would be implemente­d by the government.

The Nangka assemblyma­n said that the infrastruc­ture projects in the Kemuyang New Township have been approved and the contractor concerned would probably enter the area in July this year.

The Kemuyang New Township project was launched by former Chief Minister, the late Datuk Patinggi Tan Sri Adenan Satem on Feb 14 last year.

Also present at the presentati­on ceremony was Sibu Land and Survey Department Superinten­dent Norlina Ra’ee.
