KUCHING: Hui Lau Shan – the largest Hong Kong dessert chain in Malaysia – officially opened its branch at Vivacity Megamall yesterday.

Open from 10am to 10pm daily, it offers a vast array of unique desserts that are well known in Hong Kong such as its signature Mango Sago.

“In only five years, Hui Lau Shan has opened up 20 branches in most of the major malls in Malaysia. This is the first branch in East Malaysia,” said Hui Lau Shan assistant marketing manager Jackie Kam.

She said the menu will be dominated by the chain’s signature mango series.

A press statement said Hui Lau Shan founded his first herbal drink store in Yuen Long, Hong Kong in the 1960s.

His specialty Guilinggao and herbal drinks based on unique recipes passed down within the family left a deep impression and established the brand’s reputation as the leader in high quality herbal drinks.

After years of research Hui Lau Shan’s unique and unparalleled Mango Sago dessert was launched in 1992.

Each Hui Lau Shan branch is designed to provide customers with a lively and relaxing environment to enjoy their desserts, which are certified halal by the Department of Islamic Development Malaysia (Jakim).

With over 200 stores in key locations across Hong Kong, China, Macau, South Korea and Malaysia, Hui Lau Shan is targeting to expand its chains in the Southeast Asian market with Malaysia as its starting point.
