MIRI: Members of the public can celebrate Miri May Fest and Miri City Day by visiting Lightopia 2017, a three-day festival featuring creative light displays at Curtin University, Malaysia (Curtin Malaysia) from May 26 to 28.

Billed as ‘Miri’s first-ever light festival’, Lightopia 2017 is organised by Curtin Malaysia’s Student Council and endorsed by the Miri City Council to celebrate Miri May Fest 2017 and to raise funds for the Sarawak Society for the Blind.

The highlight of the event will be the 1,500 stalks of LED ‘flower lights’ in a four-leaf clover array across the outdoor venue.

The leaves of the clover will light up, each one representing love, luck, hope and faith.

Other attractions include three light show sections with different themes – Time Tunnel, The Forest and The Caves, live bands and other performances at the main stage, a night market and sensory dining.

The event will take place from 6pm to 10.30pm daily.

Capping off Lightopia 2017 will be a fireworks display and the launching of LED balloons on the final day.

Early bird tickets to the event will be priced at RM20 per person, RM15 per student or RM60 for a family package which can be purchased at Inbox at the Permaisuri Imperial City Mall or the Lightopia 2017 promotional booth at the main entrance of Bintang Megamall on weekends.
