Unimas admits four sets of twins for pre-U
We did not plan to go to the same university as we are hoping to take different paths.
KOTA SAMARAHAN: It will be more than just a case of seeing double for lecturers of the Centre for Pre-University Studies ( PPPU) at Universiti Malaysia Sarawak ( Unimas) here following the enrolment of four sets of twins for the 2017/2018 session.
One of the twins, Abby Lian Hendrick, said it was sheer coincidence that both she and her younger sister Ally Dian Hendrick are taking their foundation courses together.
“We did not plan to go to the same university as we are hoping to take different paths,” she said.
Abby is a Fundamental Physical Science student who is hoping to study Computer Science and Multimedia, while Ally is in the Fundamental Life Science program and aspiring to take

Cognitive Science and Human Development.
Nonetheless, the twin sisters consider themselves lucky as they get to go home every weekend since they are from Kuching.
For Selangor-born twin brothers Muhammad Iman Muhammad Izzam and Muhammad Aiman Muhammad Izzam, their enrolment in Unimas is a homecoming of sorts.
The elder of the two, Muhammad Iman said: “Our mother is originally from Kuching but we were born and raised in Selangor.
“We are hoping to brush up our Sarawakian Malay dialect while we are studying here.”
Muhammad Iman and Muhammad Aiman are hoping to study Chemical Engineering and Medicine respectively upon the completion of their foundation courses.
Meanwhile, fraternal twins Azlan Haziq Amirool and his sister Anissa Haziqah Amirool feel that studying together in Unimas will save cost for their parents.
“We are both from Kuching and enrolling together in Unimas can cut costs, especially in terms of transportation,” Azlan said.
Azlan and Anissa did submit applications to other institutions such as Universiti Malaysia Sabah ( UMS), Universiti Teknologi Mara (UiTM) and a matriculation college, but eventually opted to study in Unimas.
Another set of twins, Mohamad Amir Luqman Bastari and Mohamad Amir Irman Bastari, also from Kuching, are both in the Fundamental Physical Science program.
There are about 730 students registered in PPPU foundation courses this year.
