SJK Chung Hua Miri and Miri Hospital among landscape competitio­n winners

MIRI: SJK Chung Hua Miri emerged as champion of the primary school category in the Beautiful Landscape Competitio­n 2017 organised by Miri City Council.

Second place went to SJK Chung Hua Krokop while third went to SK Pujut Corner. As champion, SJK Chung Hua Miri received RM2,000, while the second and third-placed winners received RM1,500 and RM1,000 respective­ly.

All three schools were also given trophies and certificat­es of appreciati­on. In the secondary school category, first place went to Riam Road Secondary School while SMK Merbau and SMK Lopeng Tengah won second and third place respective­ly.

The Industrial Training Institute ( ILP) Miri was the champion in the higher learning institutio­n category, followed by Curtin University of Sarawak ( second) and Sarawak Skills Developmen­t Centre ( PPKS) in third.

In the government building category, Miri Hospital emerged as champion while Pustaka Miri took second and Miri Road Transport Department (JPJ) third.

Petronas Carigali Sdn Bhd won first place in the private sector and government-linked company (GLC) category, followed by SESCO Berhad and Laku Management Sdn Bhd in third.

For the hotel and resort category, Eastwood Valley Golf & Country Club ( EVGCC) won first place, with Miri Marriot Resort & Spa taking second and Grand Palace Hotel taking third place.

The traditiona­l and village house category saw Mahani Drahman Leong taking home first prize, followed by Rangkut Abdul Hadi and Mohamed Yusop Drahman Leong in second and third place respective­ly. Nancy Thomas was the champion for the bungalow and single house category, with Saldina Abdul Sallam coming in second and Jonathan Chin Jun Heng in third.

For the terrace house category, the champion was Sim Fung Lian followed by Cecilia Bulan Lian (second) and Tang Man Leng (third).

Yong Sze Chew was the detached house/corner-lot terrace house first prize winner, while the second and third prize winners were Hasnah Chi Bong and Cynthia Chindun respective­ly.

All winners for the house categories walked home with RM1,000 ( first), RM700 (second), and RM500 (third) respective­ly in addition to a trophy and certificat­e of participat­ion each. Miri mayor Adam Yii presented the prizes to the winners at Miri Beach Republic recently.
