Work together for Pujut by-election, SUPP Miri branches told

-

MIRI: All five branches of Sarawak United Peoples’ Party ( SUPP) Miri – Bekenu, Lambir, Piasau, Pujut and Senadin – are urged to work together to face the Pujut by- election and 14th General Election, in order to show the people that SUPP is still the oldest and the most trustworthy party.

SUPP Miri and Sibuti Parliamentary Liaison Committee chairman Datuk Lee Kim Shin said in the more than half a century since it was established, SUPP has grown from a small entity into a huge party, showing that being united and working as one could bring the party to new heights.

“Miri used to be a stronghold of Barisan Nasional ( BN). The parliamentary seats (under BN) covered from Miri up to Batu Niah. Under our former president Datuk Patinggi Tan Sri Dr George Chan as deputy chief minister, Miri has seen its glory (days).

“Today, the state constituencies face challenges in many ways, but rest assured, that by working together, the spirit of unity is sure to be very much alive,” he said in his speech at a f lagraising ceremony yesterday to mark SUPP’s 58th anniversary at the SUPP Piasau branch office at Pelita Commercial Centre.

Lee emphasised that to keep up with the community, the party must also evolve to become a digital- savvy party that reaches out to the people by adapting to modern technology.

“Technology is the key to reaching out to the people, and also to serving the people faster and more conveniently,” he said.
