Mulu rep spreads message of solidarity during Gawai visits

MARUDI: Mulu assemblyma­n Datuk Gerawat Gala took the opportunit­y from his Gawai Dayak visit to several longhouses across his constituen­cy to promote the spirit of solidarity among the villagers and also gain more support from the grassroots for Barisan Nasional ( BN).

He spent four full days, beginning from Gawai Eve, going to the longhouses and sharing the festivitie­s with his constituen­ts.

The trip was organised by the committee members of the Mulu branch of Parti Pesaka Bumiputera Bersatu ( PBB).

Additional­ly, Gerawat – also the Deputy Speaker of State Legislativ­e Assembly – also took advantage of this visit to listen and gain feedback from the grassroots about issues and problems that they were facing.

“I assure all of you that I will look into the problems that have been brought to my attention such as the lack of treated water supply, several stretches of roads that have yet to be tar-sealed and also the frequent flash flooding at low-lying areas here,” he spoke at Rumah Adam at Sungai Nawang near here.

Apart from Rumah Adam, Gerawat and his entourage also visited Rumah Michael Selangkor at Sungai Brit, Rumah Blalang Atom, Rumah Entika Maoh at Sungai Poyut, Rumah Ridap Selat at Sungai Pasir and Rumah Jamit at Stapang A. The assemblyma­n also announced a number of allocation­s under his Minor Rural Project ( MRP) grant to longhouses. Specifical­ly for Rumah Adam security and developmen­t committee (JKKK), Geraway announced an allocation of RM10,000.

Marudi District Council deputy chairman Simpson Njok Lenjau, former political secretary to chief minister Datuk Robert Laing Anyie and his wife Datin Catherine Awing Wan, and Special Affairs Department officer Juman Nyuwa were among those joining Gerawat for the Gawai visits.
