Abdul Rahman’s Aidilfitri open house draws thousands
KOTA KINABALU: Sabah Yang Dipertua Negeri Tun Dr Juhar Mahiruddin and Chief Minister Datuk Seri Musa Aman were among the thousands of people who attended the Aidilfitri open house of Minister in the Prime Minister’s Department Datuk Seri Abdul Rahman Dahlan here yesterday.
Federal Communications and Multimedia Minister Datuk Seri Dr Salleh Said Keruak and Sabah Deputy Chief Minister Datuk Seri Yahya Hussin were also the guests at the open house, which began at 9am.
Various kinds of food, including satay, ketupat, lemang and rendang, were offered to the guests who also included people of the various communities in Sabah.
Speaking to reporters, Abdul Rahman said the presence of the large number of people reflected a sense of belonging among the people of the various races and religions in the state.
“Leaders of opposition political parties also attended the function and mingled with the government leaders in an atmosphere of goodwill. I hope this feeling of brotherhood will prevail over time.
“We may have political and economic differences but at functions like this we find common ground to unite the people,” he said.
Abdul Rahman, who is in charge of the Economic Planning Unit, said he would maintain development in Sabah as one of the main agendas at the federal level.
“Sabah still needs much development. I always receive advice from the Prime Minister ( Datuk Seri Najib Tun Razak) and the Chief Minister ( Datuk Seri Musa Aman) on the kind of development that has to be given priority,” he said. —
