SUPP Kuching to host 58th anniversar­y dinner

KUCHING: Sarawak United Peoples’ Party (SUPP) Kuching Branch will be hosting a dinner to celebrate its 58th anniversar­y at Pullman Hotel here on July 1, starting at 6.30pm.

According to the branch’s press statement, Chief Minister Datuk Amar Abang Johari Tun Openg is expected to attend as guest- of-honour and other Barisan Nasional leaders were also invited to attend.

Some 1,000 people are expected to attend the celebratio­n, including SUPP Central leaders and members. Also expected to be present are members of various chambers of commerce and associatio­ns with many supporters having already purchased dinner tickets. Event organising chairman Cr Jong Yean Pin said the dinner aimed at reuniting all SUPP members to support the party in promoting and realising its mission and vision.

Activities leading up to the dinner include a “Caring with Love” charity programme, exhibition outside the dining hall to showcase the historical developmen­t of SUPP, food stalls, karaoke, street dance and drinking games, among others.

On that day, SUPP Kuching Branch leaders will show appreciati­on to all senior members as a sign of how much they and their contributi­on to the party and people are valued. A video will also be show at the dinner.

“The sponsors are Datuk Wee Kong Tiong, Datuk David Teng Lung Chi, Dato Richard Wee Liang Chiat, Hong Bong Siong, Tan Sri Tiong Su Kuok and Michael Teo Kim Huat,” the statement said. Liang Chiat is president of the Federation of Chinese Associatio­ns, Kuching, Samarahan and Serian Divisions.
